The Moment Preparation Becomes Trust

Every year around this time, something interesting happens.
This is the fifth year my family and I have chosen to spend part of our summers living and working in different countries. It has become one of our favourite ways to learn, grow, and experience life from a different perspective.
Our suitcases are almost packed.
The plans are in place.
And still, I wonder why I feel a level of anxiety alongside my excitement...
Problem: Preparation Doesn't Eliminate Uncertainty
We often believe that if we prepare well enough, uncertainty will disappear.
Whether you're changing jobs, stepping into a leadership role, moving abroad, or starting a new life chapter, there comes a moment when there is almost nothing left to prepare.
Yet, the uncertainty remains.
It feels like an enemy I know, yet I realized that it's a sign that, what lies ahead truly matters. It is there to remind us that we're standing on the verge of something new.

Solution: Trusting Yourself More Than Certainty
Perhaps my goal should not be eliminating uncertainty and anxiety.
Perhaps it is to trust that, with the time, information, and resources available, I've already done what was within my control.

In her TED Talk The Gift and Power of Emotional Courage, Susan David explains that developing emotional agility means learning to move forward with difficult emotions instead of waiting for them to disappear. They are often signals that we're stepping toward something meaningful.
One thing I’ve learned from years of swimming in unknown waters is this: being prepared means trusting your ability to handle what certainty can never promise!
From coaching professionals through many transitions, I've noticed that the ones who navigate anxiety most successfully tend to:
💎 Keep one familiar routine. A small anchor creates stability while everything else is changing.
💎 Focus on what they can control, influence, and accept, instead of trying to control the entire journey.
💎 Leave white space in their plans. The best opportunities rarely fit the original schedule.

For the next few weeks, I'll be observing, learning, coaching, collecting stories, and sharing what I discover along the way in Asia, so stay tuned!
I'll also continue working remotely with updated coaching hours to accommodate the time difference. You'll find my current availability on Calendly.
I look forward to sharing what comes next with you!
