The Career Impact of Being in the Right Rooms

I have to admit something honestly.

As a business owner managing many things on my own, as a mother of two, and as a professional carrying both business and family responsibilities, I do not attend professional events as often as I would actually like to.

But every single time I do, I leave with the same thought:

I should do this more often!

Last week at ViennaUP 2026, during co-moderating the stage at Tech Summit-Road to Global event, I found myself reflecting once again on what these environments truly create beyond the official agenda.

Yes, there were presentations, panels, startups, and experts.

But what stayed with me most were the spontaneous conversations over coffee. The reconnecting after years of remote work. The openness of international rooms filled with people eager to connect with each other, sharing lessons, failures, ambitions, and possibilities.

And it reminded me of something I observe often in both professional life and coaching.

Problem: We are isolated in crowds.

Most professionals are:

  • Stuck in routines

  • Have remote work fatigue

  • Do transactional networking

  • Are disconnected from inspiration

  • Lose exposure to fresh thinking

Networking solely becomes more on “Who can help me?” than “Who helps me think differently?”

Solution: Intentionally Entering the Right Room

I believe professional events, communities, workshops, and networking spaces matter far more than we sometimes realise.

Because of what they activate in us.

In architecture and spatial design, environments influence how people move, interact, and feel.

Some spaces create contraction. Others naturally invite openness and exchange.

Professional environments work similarly.

Some rooms make us shrink into routine. Others expand our thinking, our courage, our creativity, and even our sense of future possibilities.

That is why choosing which rooms we enter, online or in person, has become an important professional skill itself.

I recently completed Keith Ferrazzi’s ‘Mastering Authentic Networking’ course on Mindvalley. He tells us that meaningful relationships are built through generosity, curiosity, consistency, and genuine human connection.

The brilliant networkers I observe often do a few things differently:

💎 They place themselves in environments that expose them to fresh thinking

💎 They stay curious in conversations instead of trying to impress quickly

💎 They create relationships with generosity before they urgently need them

Sometimes one meaningful conversation creates more movement than months of overthinking alone.

Maybe that is why the right rooms matter more than we think. It is often activated through people, conversations, environments, and the courage we borrow from one another.

And honestly, this is also why I care deeply about creating these kinds of spaces through my coaching, workshops, and professional collaborations.

If you want to be present in spaces where you can think bigger again but don’t know how, let’s talk. I will gladly guide you.
