How Can We Prepare for 3 Emerging Career Worlds?
Updated: Sep 29
Since returning to Vienna, many conversations have started with questions about my summer.
What was it like working remotely from Vietnam for six weeks? What did Japan teach me? Could I imagine living and working differently after all this?

But sooner or later, someone turns the tables on me:
“You spend your days partnering with people on their careers. So, tell me, Dilek, where do you think all this is going?”
With AI changing everything, what should we prepare ourselves for? What should our children study?
I have always thought about career as something bigger than choosing a profession. It is the repetition of what we are good at, where we want to contribute and how we make a living in everyday life.
So, I started looking more closely at what the latest research actually says.
The Research | Three Career Worlds Are Growing
The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 looks ahead to 2030. Its findings suggest something I find fascinating.
I see three parallel career worlds emerging.
Technology & Intelligence: AI and machine learning, big data, software development and cybersecurity are among the fastest-growing fields.
Human Care & Development: nursing, social work, counselling, education and other care-related professions are also expected to grow.
The Physical & Sustainable Economy: agriculture, construction, delivery, renewable energy and environmental roles remain essential, with several expected to expand.
Problem: We Are Preparing Skills. But What About the Human?
Different worlds. Different professions. One thing connects all three:
A human being still has to do the work.
That added another question to the one people have been asking me:
What kind of human capacity will these jobs require?
WEF expects technological literacy to increase in importance. But so will creative thinking, resilience, flexibility, curiosity, lifelong learning and leadership.
We will need to learn, adapt, decide, collaborate and lead while technology around us accelerates.
And these capabilities don't exist independently of the biological system producing them.

Insight: The Human System Behind Our Skills
The World Health Organization's short Brain Health episode connects brain health with cognitive, emotional and social functioning. Its recommendations are surprisingly fundamental: move, eat well, stay socially connected, keep learning and take care of your health.
This adds another dimension to career readiness:
How well are we developing the human system behind our skills?
As machines become cognitively stronger, human performance may increasingly depend on how well we protect and develop the biological system behind our thinking.

So Where Could We Start?

💎 Build technological capacity. Understand how AI is changing your work and keep learning.
💎 Build human capacity. Develop adaptability, curiosity, judgement, collaboration and leadership.
💎 Build biological capacity. Treat movement, nutrition, sleep, recovery and brain health as part of the infrastructure supporting how you think, learn and perform.
A Human Performance Architecture Reflection:

The future of work may be changing around us, but our ability to meet it will depend on the human system we build within us.
This is where my own curiosity and work are increasingly taking me: the intersection of career development and human performance, and the architecture behind sustaining both in a rapidly changing world.
If you are thinking about your own next chapter, I invite you to explore this space with me: creating clarity around where you want to go while intentionally developing the physical and mental capacity to get there.
Here is the easiest way to reach out to me:
The future of work will keep evolving. Our opportunity is to evolve the human capacity that meets it.
Warmly from Vienna,
Dilek
