Working From Anywhere Sounds Like a Dream… But What Does It Actually Take?

Last week, we arrived in Hanoi, where my husband collaborates closely with his Asian colleagues and I continue hosting my coaching and training sessions online.
Just in one week from this vibrant city, this happened:
📍 Two coaching sessions with Austria, one with France, one with Belgium, one with Germany, two meetings with Germany and Türkiye, one retreat preparation for an Austrian company, one corporate coaching briefing with a company from Switzerland.
All this, while navigating a 5-hour time difference, jet lag, family logistics, and a new time zone.
Mind-blowing.
Especially for someone who started her business from scratch at 40, in a new country, in a new language, while raising two small kids, a very humble beginning...

I’m deeply grateful for the technology, trust, and freedom to live and work this way. But let’s be honest:
👉 “Work from Anywhere” is not about sipping coconuts on a beach.
👉 It requires immense planing, structure, systems, and an inner architecture strong enough to hold your outer world together.
Proof: We've Been Doing This for a While

This isn’t our first time. For the last 3 summers, we’ve lived and worked from Barcelona Spain, me coaching internationally, my husband working across time zones, and our kids living their beach-life after school.
We’ve been testing, refining, and living this lifestyle long enough to know:
It’s not effortless. But it’s possible with intention.
Problem: People romanticize remote work but forget the infrastructure
As a coach, I work with many talented professionals dreaming of becoming solopreneurs, creators, or independent consultants. They crave:
🔹 Freedom
🔹 Flexibility
🔹 Fulfillment
But they’re often unprepared for the realities: If there is no structure and preparation, there is unexpected chaos, self-doubt and exhaustion.
Solution: Build Systems That Support Freedom
The ability to work from anywhere isn’t about luck or being spontaneous, it’s about intentional design.
If you want real freedom, you need real systems.
As a coach, I help people rethink their career path, by designing work that’s aligned with who they are and how they want to live.
It doesn’t always mean starting your own business, it could mean:
🔹 Redesigning your current job for more flexibility
🔹 Negotiating remote or hybrid setups
🔹 Launching a side project with long-term potential
🔹 Taking your services global through digital tools
5 Practical Tips for Creating a Real “Work from Anywhere” Life

🔹 #1 - Remote Work Starts at Home
If you're collaborating online already, location becomes secondary. Choose business partners based on shared vision, not geography.
🔹 #2 - Design for Your Family Too
When traveling with loved ones, pick temporary housing that gives everyone space to be covered and happy.
Sports facilities, supermarkets, and restaurants nearby = peace of mind while you work.
🔹 #3 - Communicate Your Schedule Clearly
Let clients, partners, and teams know your new rhythm in advance. Time zone differences, availability, and meeting expectations should never be a surprise.
🔹 #4 - Check Internet & Workspace Before You Book
If your entire business is online, don’t assume it will “just work out.” Test connections, confirm workspaces, and have backup plans.
🔹 #5 - Give Yourself Permission to Be Human
Yes, there will be 10:00 PM meetings. Yes, your kid might get sick. Adapt, breathe, and be proud of what you’re building, even in the mess!
Work doesn't have to look the way it did 10 years ago.
If you're hearing the quiet voice inside that says, "There's more for me than this..." listen to it.
There are bold, creative, and sustainable ways to live and work, and you don’t have to figure them out alone.

If you're curious to explore what could be possible for you, let’s talk. I offer mentoring and coaching for those ready to step into a new chapter, one that's tailor-made for your truth.
Just reach out, I'd love to hear your story.
Warmly from Hanoi,
Dilek
